Sarah's Birthday Card

It will be my daughter Sarah's birthday on Sunday and here is the card I have made her.

I have used a clear stamp set from Inky Doodles, I adore this image and will be using it loads.  I have coloured with Promarkers and Copics, used Distress Ink around the edges and the two little tags are made using a very old punch.  The word 'daughter' is from a Personal Impressions clear stamp set, the butterfly is cut with my Cuttlebug and I have added Glamour Dust to give lots of sparkle.  I really hope Sarah likes it.  Thank you so much for looking.  Take care, Christine xx

What's on your Workdesk? 190

I am playing today after watching Sheena Douglas on the telly.

I have been making backgrounds using Distress Inks together with H20's and Cosmic Shimmer paints.  Its been good fun just messing about not worrying whether I like them or not or what I will use them for.  I got so involved, I nearly forgot to join with with WOYWW!  There are a couple of backgrounds soaked with water with salt sprinkled on which are drying in another part of the room.  I only had coarse salt and Sheena said to use fine sea salt.  I didn't have any so earlier I was hitting a bag of rock salt with a hammer to make it fine - I didn't do the best job so will be interested to see how they turn out.  I think I will steer clear of any DIY, I am not good with a hammer!  If you want to join in with the Wednesday desk snoop just hop along to Julia's and see what everyone is up to today.  Stay warm everyone and have a good day.  Take care.  Christine xx

Alpha Challenge - 'V'

The Alpha Challenge is a brilliant new challenge over at the Craft Barn which lasts all year.  I have only just posted this in time as the closing date for entries for this first part is tomorrow - I must get more organised!  Its definitely worth a look, its fab fun.

I have chosen to make journal pages for this challenge - I have never made one before so this is my first tentative effort!  We were given a letter and then had to choose a word, I chose 'Vast' using the huge butterfly stamp in comparison to the tiny ones to illustrate the point.  The large butterfly is a wooden Creative Expressions stamp and the small butterflies are from Inky Doodles and Marion Emberson clear sets.  The leafy swirl is from Inky Doodles too.  I coloured the butterfly with Promarkers.  The large lettering is die cut with a Cuttlebug die set and the small lettering is handwritten.  The background is coloured with Spun Sugar Distress Ink direct to paper then spritzed with water, dried, then spritzed with Abominable Snowman Glimmer Mist.  I wanted to keep the background simple as the large butterfly is quite busy.  I added a touch of Stickles glitter glue to the butterfly applied with a cocktail stick so it isn't too heavy.  I also spread some  Stickles on the large lettering too.   I am looking forward to finding out what the next letter will be!  If you are struggling with the snow and freezing termperatures, take care and keep warm.  Thank you for visiting me and welcome to my new followers Lori and Anne - I really appreciate all of my blog friends - your support means such a lot. Take Care Christine xx

What's on your Workdesk? Wednesday 189

Can you believe its Wednesday already?  Time flies by so quickly!  So here we are again to snoop at each others workdesks.  Julia's is the place to go to join in, go on, you know you want to!

I have been out at the hairdresser's this morning so this is how I left my desk yesterday. Nothing has changed and won't now until tomorrow. The stamps are by Inky doodles and are fabulous!  There are also an embossing folder, Spellbinder Labels 4, Inks, Glamour Dust, various sticky stuff and peeking out is the handle of my Cuttlebug.  I used these bits and bobs, and some that are on another table, to make the embossed card on my previous post.  If you would like to have a look here is the link. Towards the back is another simple card I made with the same stamps and inks.  Any comments won't show up straight away as I have put comment moderation on - I am getting so much spam!  A lot of people seem to be having this problem.   At least I can delete these spam comments before they get through to the blog!  There is no Word Verification though - I hate that and I know you all do too!  Thank you for visiting me.  Take care, and if you are suffering with the cold weather, keep warm too! Christine xx

Embossed Tag Card

Over at Artful Times Challenge Blog they are asking us to get our embossing folders out.  My entry started out as just a tag but I decided to mount it on a card.

The image is part of a large image from a set called Floral Fantasy by Inky Doodles and is coloured in with ProMarkers. The sentiment is by Marion Emberson. For the challenge we had to use at least two embossing folders.  I used three - Cuttlebug swirls on the black Spellbinder label, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots on the tag itself and Darice Swirls on the background black card.  The butterflies are made with Sissex Embosslits - Beautiful Wings.  I inked the tag with Dusty Concord and Peacock Feather Distress Ink, ripped it and took a section out, inked the edges and then glued it onto a black tag. The main card and image are inked with the same inks.  The ribbon is white seam binding coloured with the Dusty Concord DI and I have added glamour dust to the image.  The colours are a bit more vibrant in real life and the sparkle really stands out. Thank you so much for looking - do pop over to Artful Times and see the wonderful creations by the Design Team and the other fab entries.  Take Care.  Christine xx

What's on your Workdesk? Wednesday 188

I hang my head in shame!  It's my first post this year and my first for a month!  Well I won't dwell on that, I will just show you my desk, ooh and wish Happy New Year to anyone that I haven't already caught up with!

I am not sure where I am going with my project yet but am starting with the A4 mask and will see where I end up.  Inspiration has been absent for a while so am going to throw myself into something today and see what happens.  I received the mask and the set of flower stamps behind for Christmas - the Distress Ink Pad rack too which is brilliant!  Just behind the Grand Calibre are a couple of stamps I found online in the sales too.  Now to start crafting!  To join in the desk hop, just pop along to Julia's and see what everyone is up too - its fab fun!  I will be popping round a little later to visit you all.  Thank you loads for popping by.  Take care.  Christine xx
