Q and L Challenge 'Up' and 'Smile'

Its the first of the 2014 challenge over at The Craft Barn and this year it is the Quote and Lyrics Challenge. You have to include the words 'Smile' or 'Up' this time.  I went for 'Up' and chose 'Up On The Roof' recorded by the Drifters in 1962 and written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King.  I have decided to make tags for this challenge.

Now this could be a dull evening scene with birds flying home or a night scene with bats flying around - its up to your imagination!  I made a night scene and then stamped the birds forgetting they don't fly at night! Silly me!  The background is Dusty Concord, Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks with the moon in squeezed Lemonade.  The roof is hand drawn (something I usually avoid as I am hopeless but didn't have a stamp) and coloured in with Promarkers.  The cats are Silhouette Cats by Little Claire and were stamped with Black Versafine and embossed with clear powder heating from behind so they are smooth.  The birds/bats (tee hee) are by Clarity Stamp.  The whole thing is sprayed with Glimmer Mist for a delicate sparkle.  Please pop over to The Craft Barn to see the fab samples and all the brilliant entries.  Thank you for the visit, I am so grateful and I love reading your comments.  Take care.  Christine xx

I love your tag! I have squirrels on my roof. Perhaps I need some cats to rid the squirrels... then I'll need dogs to rid the cats... yeah, I'm seeing this won't go well.

Thanks for the visit today. One of my goals for this year is to do WOYWW and point out some unfinished project on my desks with the idea I can show it off finished the next week (and hence actually finish things). We'll see how it goes. I only got one of the things I showed last week done. I can say it made me think about my unfinished things more. I just didn't have time to play with the rest. I'm still recovering from a cold I got right after Christmas. I have lots of unfinished biz now... let's see how next week goes!

Forgot to say... that my previous desk was also a rolltop. I actually wore it out. It was cheap material and I moved lots in my youth. When we went to replace it of course I wanted another rolltop, having loved rolltops all my life. They aren't so easy to find in stock, so I found myself at many stores looking at catalogs. Almost every store the salesperson would try to discourage me from getting a rolltop to craft on. I got so frustrated with it. The desk I got was in stock at a store AND the saleslady thought a rolltop for crafting was a brilliant idea. :-)

Visiting from The Craft Barn - What a wonderful song choice! The alley cats are singing to the moon at the start of their night of fun as the birds fly home to roost. :o)
