Quote and Lyrics Challenge - Strong and Miss

The Q and L challenge at The Craft Barn this time is Strong and/or Miss - my word is 'Miss' taken from the song Ms Grace by the Tymes which was released in the US in 1974 to limited success but hit No. 1 in the UK in 1975.  I took the word 'Miss' from the first line of the Chorus which is 'ooh ooh ooh Miss Grace, Satin and Perfume and Lace'.  I have been singing the song since I chose it.  Mind you, I do with every song I choose!

I have had this lady stamp for ages - the name on the stamp is Creative Stamping and I inked her up with black Archival, covered with a sheet of baking parchment then Mint Sparkle Angelina Fibres, another sheet of baking parchment and ironed on medium.  The ironed fibre looks like silk.  I stamped the lady again on white card, embossed with clear powder and coloured the skin, hair and shoes with Promarkers.  I cut both out and stuck together.  I only cut the clothes and hat out from the fibres. the background is inked with Distress Inks (using brushes) I can't remember what colours and then I stamped, faintly, Joanna Sheen perfume bottles over the background  I then added the lady, words, lace and flowers (dabbed with frosted lace Stickles) and it was done!

Please pop over to The Craft Barn and see the other fabulous entries and DT samples.  Thank you so much for visiting me - its really appreciated!  Take care.  Christine xx

Big Purple Flower!

Here is another card that I really enjoyed making!  I am so into all of the painty/inky stuff!

The background is coloured with a layer of the amazing Distress Paints - Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Weathered Wood.  I put lines of them on my craft sheet, spritzed it with water.   Spritzed the card too then dragged it through the paint.  When partially dried, I sprayed with more water then dried completely.  I then used Crafters Workshop Template Mini Tile Texture and inked through with Iced Spruce Distress Ink.  The diamonds are randomly stamped with Picked Raspberry DI and are a clear Harlequin stamp by Tim Holtz.  The swirls and background flowers are also Tim Holtz stamps and are stamped in Archival Black. The sentiment is from Through The Rain by Sheena Douglass and the butterflies are IndigoBlu.  The large flower is made using Tattered Florals Die by Tim Holtz coloured with Dusty Concord DI and the same ink is edging the background too.  The leaves are a Spellbinders die inked with a green DI, I can't remember off hand which one, sorry!  The purple pearls are from my stash and the base card is also purple.  The centre of the flower is a metal button.  I picked a set up for a £1 from a vintage fair.  Bargain!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Artful Times - in the style of Tim Holtz
Sunday Stamper Week 294 - Shine on you Crazy Diamond

Please visit these blogs and have a look at the fab entries and DT samples.  There is such wonderful stuff to see!  Thank you so much for visiting, it always means so much and I really value your comments!  Take care. Christine xx

Q & L Challenge - Silence and Dazzle

Its Craft Barn challenge time again.  The words to choose from are 'Silence' or 'Dazzle'.  I went for a simple one - 'Silence is Golden'.  This song was first recorded in 1964 as a 'B' side to Rag Doll by The Four Seasons and then in 1967 by The Tremeloes.

I wasn't sure how to depict 'silence' but this image, which comes from a Debbi Moore Designs set, was what sprang to mind.  The corner flourish is Inkadinkado and the stencil is Dotty Flowers by Dylusions.  I used Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade.  The song title is written on gold painted card and the gold and black ribbon are from my stash.   I hope you are not affected by the awful wet weather we have been having here in the UK.  Thank you so much for visiting.  Have a lovely weekend and take care!  Christine xx

Same Image, Same Layout, Two Cards

I love the IndigoBlu Elizabeth Bennett stamp so used it for the following two cards.  I am entering each one into a different challenge - I hope its ok that I have done them on the same post!

I am entering the first into the IndigoBlu challenge which is 'From The Heart'.  The card is for my Daughter so I hope it qualifies.  There is no greater love than for your children and every card I make for my Son and Daughter definitely 'comes from my heart'!

As well as the Elizabeth Bennett stamp I also used the IndigoBlu Circus Alphabet.  The flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts and the seed beads on the flowers are from my stash. The background card is pearlescent and has a lovely sheen to it.  The colouring is done with Promarkers.

This next one is for Sunday Stamper over at Hel's Blog where we have to use the colour orange.

The sentiment stamps are Inkadinkado. I used black pearls on some of the flowers and the background card is stamped with a Creative Expressions stamp and the colouring on the flowers and the letter 'B' is done with Cosmic Shimmer watercolour paints which have a lovely mica shimmer. The rest is with Promarkers. The ribbon on both is from my stash.

Please pop over to both Blogs and have a look see!  I am off to my Daughters tomorrow for a few days.  I will get lots of cuddles with my gorgeous Granddaughter Freya!  Thank you so much for visiting me, its so kind of you!  I will visit you when I can. Take care.  Christine xx

Sunday Stamper Ultraviolet

Sunday Stamper over at Ink On My Fingers is to use Violet/Purple.  I got inspiration from Hels's programmes on Create and Craft this week.  Hels used clear Texture Paste and coloured Distress Glitter whereas I used white for both as that is what I had.

The base card is deep purple and Distress Inks used for the background are Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves and Peacock Feathers.  I used dotty and flowers masks from That Special Touch and the pattern mask is The Crafters Workshop.  Soft White Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste was dragged through the mask, the mask removed then paste sprinkled with Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter.  'Hello' is from Hero Arts set Trees, Birds and Messages.  I loved making this card and I hope you like it too!  Thank you for visiting me and have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing.  Please visit Hel's Blog, its fabulous!  Take care. Q and L Challenge 'Up' and 'Smile'

Its the first of the 2014 challenge over at The Craft Barn and this year it is the Quote and Lyrics Challenge. You have to include the words 'Smile' or 'Up' this time.  I went for 'Up' and chose 'Up On The Roof' recorded by the Drifters in 1962 and written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King.  I have decided to make tags for this challenge.

Now this could be a dull evening scene with birds flying home or a night scene with bats flying around - its up to your imagination!  I made a night scene and then stamped the birds forgetting they don't fly at night! Silly me!  The background is Dusty Concord, Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks with the moon in squeezed Lemonade.  The roof is hand drawn (something I usually avoid as I am hopeless but didn't have a stamp) and coloured in with Promarkers.  The cats are Silhouette Cats by Little Claire and were stamped with Black Versafine and embossed with clear powder heating from behind so they are smooth.  The birds/bats (tee hee) are by Clarity Stamp.  The whole thing is sprayed with Glimmer Mist for a delicate sparkle.  Please pop over to The Craft Barn to see the fab samples and all the brilliant entries.  Thank you for the visit, I am so grateful and I love reading your comments.  Take care.  Christine xx

Butterflies in Blue

Here is a card I made for a friend's 50th birthday.

I really enjoyed making this one.  All the background card is white card sprayed with water then dragged through Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Ink which had also been sprayed with water on a craft sheet. I  dried it a bit then spritzed with water, dabbed with kitchen roll then dried with a heat gun.  I then dabbed it in remaining ink and dried then sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist. The stamping is done with Majestic Blue Versafine and clear embossing.  The large butterfly is decoupaged, the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  All the stamps are from the Circus Alphabet set from IndigoBlu which is one of my favourite stamp sets ever! Blue card, doily and Card Candi from my stash.   I would like to enter the following challenges:
Artful Times - Blue
IndigoBlu - Favourite IndigoBlu stamp of the year
Ink On My Fingers - Wings
These challenges are definitely worth a look - all the samples and the other entries are fabulous!  Thank you for visiting me, I really appreciate it!  Take care. Christine xx
