ooh this was a difficult challenge over at The Craft Barn! There are not so many words starting with 'Z'. I went for 'Zone'.
I used Distress Paints for the background colours - Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn and Broken China. I dabbed then on then smoothed them out and blended the edges with my fingers. I had not used them before a Hels Sheridan workshop I attended last Saturday, the workshop was amazing - Hels is fab fun and an amazing teacher, (I will post the results another time). I went with my friends Marl, Claire and Lizzy and we had such a laugh! Anyway I digress! The paints are awesome and Distress Inks work over the top! I used different masks over each section. All are Special Touch masks. I inked through with Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean and Pine Needles Distress Inks. The stitching detail separating the sections is an InkyDoodles stamp from the Fabulous Fabrics set and the large letters are Cuttlebug. The circles are Spellbinders. I am late again, just sneaking in last minute! If you get the chance, please hop over to the Craft Barn and see the DT pages and other entries - all of them are always fabulous! Have a brilliant weekend whatever you are doing and thank you so much for visiting me. Take care. Christine xx

Hi Chris ... you certainly rose to the 'Z' challenge ... this is so vibrant and fun, the zigzag stitching is fab! Anita :)
Hi Chris, love the colour combination. Haven't got any Distress Paints, and am really curious about them. Do they work a lot differently from normal acrylics? Hugs Frea
I think it's a brilliant choice, Christine!! I love how you divided up and colored your zones!
(BTW, great idea to send an anniversary card to Harriet on her birthday. Now if I can only remember in two months' time!!)
Hi Chris what a fab project! Love the colours and the different masks for the background. Love your stitching stamp too! Susan x
Great colours Chris
There are no ifs and buts about it - your page is divine! I am quite zoned out just looking at the beautiful colors. You did yourself proud!!

Hi Chris,
I love the whole zone thing....great ideaXX
Terrific colours and images and a great word to chose and illustrate
Love Chrissie x
Great word and I love your interpretation.
Thanks for playing
Izzy
Such a bright, vibrant page for a dull morning, Chri, and I love how you have interpreted the theme. (I really like Distress Paints, but I think they are expensive compared to other acrylics.)
Love bright page. 'z' was not an easy letter to depict but you nailed it. Between the colours, the masks and the techniques you created a page to be proud of.
A great choice of word and very striking colours.
